Andrea Oliver is an author, business strategist, and philanthropist. Her work spans entrepreneurship education, humanitarian relief across three continents, and the belief that every person deserves a real chance. All book proceeds go directly toward these efforts.
"Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."
Matthew 25:40
In Matthew 25, Jesus teaches that how we treat those who are hungry, without shelter, or in need is how we treat him directly. It is not a metaphor. It is a standard. This verse is the foundation of why this work exists.
Since 2016, Andrea has been personally purchasing and donating the essentials that children in South Sudan, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone need to survive, grow, and learn.
A child who is cold at night cannot sleep deeply enough to retain what they learned that day. A child who is hungry cannot concentrate. A child who does not feel safe cannot develop the emotional stability that allows trust, hope, and growth to take root.
This is not sentiment. It is developmental science. Physical safety and basic comfort are the foundation upon which mental health, hope, and the capacity to build a future are constructed.
When Andrea purchases a bed for a child sleeping on a dirt floor, she is not providing a luxury. She is providing the precondition for everything that education, community, and opportunity can offer.
In South Sudan, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone, a child without shoes cannot walk to school safely. Andrea is launching a shoe drive for these communities and is looking for people who want to be part of it.
Whether you have gently used shoes to donate, want to organize a collection, or want to give financially toward new pairs — there is a place for you in this.
Andrea believes economic capability is one of the most durable forms of change. As infrastructure allows, she is looking to extend entrepreneurship support to Africa, funding training and education for individuals ready to build their own futures.
This work is in its early stage. If you are on the ground in Africa, connected to organizations doing this work, or have an opportunity that needs a giving partner, Andrea wants to hear from you.
In 2020, Andrea funded over $200,000 in scholarships for college students in Kolkata, India to receive entrepreneurship and business training. Give people the knowledge to build their own path, then step back and let them build.
This chapter is complete as Andrea's focus has shifted to Africa. It is honored here because it happened, it mattered, and the people who received those scholarships carried them forward.
When funds are available, Andrea reaches out personally to help those experiencing homelessness and hunger in her own community. No organizations. No programs. Just showing up where it is needed and giving what she can.
Over the years Andrea has personally supported organizations whose work aligns with the belief that the most vulnerable deserve the most dedicated care.
The world changed and most people were not told. These two books exist to change that. Both are free to people who join The Builders Society — a community for people who are done waiting for someone else to explain what is actually happening.
Some of the best solutions to persistent problems are not complicated. They just require someone to notice an obvious gap and ask why it has not been filled. Andrea is collecting those ideas — and inviting others to bring their own.
Visit the Big Ideas page to read what is there now, and join The Builders Society to discuss, add your own ideas, and help figure out what to do about them.
Andrea has written over 20 books across two distinct collections. All proceeds go directly toward the work described on this page.
